    How It Works...

When you call PP&A for the first time, you will speak to a friendly staff member who will take some basic information from you. You will be asked information about the rgency of your situation, your contact information and when would be the best time to contact you. You will usually receive a call back from Mr. Puri within one hour. If you transmit an on-line contact or an email inquiry, Mr. Puri can usually send you a reply email almost immediately.

All consultations, whether over the phone, e-mail or in-person are completely confidential and protected by the attorney-client privilege and attorney duty of confidentiality, even if you do not retain PP&A. Mr. Puri will consult with you, free-of-charge, for up to twenty-minutes over the phone and provide you with a quote for services. If your matter is highly sensitive do to current law enforcement investigations, then you will be advised not to speak and to come in to one of Mr. Puri's offices for an in-person attorney consultation.

During a consultation, you will learn about your legal rights, and the possible legal strategies that will protect you. Mr. Puri will give you a road-map of what the future might hold for your case. He will also give you a picture of how he would best defend you. He has a talent for getting you to tell the deep aspects of your story. It is the story that allows him to see all the multiple dimensions of your possible defenses.

Once you retain Mr. Puri's services by signing a retainer agreement and paying the retainer fee, Mr. Puri will immediately begin investigating your matter. He will contact court clerks, Assistant District Attorneys or Assistant United States Attorneys, law enforcement agencies, and potential witnesses to understand the legal, procedural and evidentiary framework of your case. Mr. Puri takes early action on your case, because he believes investigations wins cases.

Mr. Puri is also a firm believer in utilizing forensic experts in the trial preparation process. That includes scientific experts, field or trade experts, jury consultants, and focus groups. To beat the government requires financial resources. By investing in the appropriate expert analysts, cases can be painted in a victorious light.

In many ways, a trial attorney is like a movie director. When the movie producer (the client) comes to the director to direct a film (a trial), the director tells the producer that he is going to need camera men, make-up artists, set and costume designers, script writers, actors, etc., etc. A director cannot make a film without the help of many people. It is no different for a trial lawyer.

Mr. Puri will personally appear with you in court. Much valuable information about your case is revealed in court. After court, Paul can begin investigating those specific facts about the case that can acquit you, and give you ammunition for pre-trial negotiations. These early efforts to defend you make it easier to win in negotiations, dismissal motions, and trial.

Mr. Puri's hands-on philosophy means he goes with investigators, and handles much of his own field work with his forensics experts. He makes sure the right questions are asked in the right way. He makes sure the right people are located and interviewed. Because he controls the defense investigation, he is better able to control the outcome of the case.

A well-handled serious or complex felony case can last longer than one year. Mr. Puri counsels patience for serious cases, because successful outcomes are carefully crafted pursuant to a clever, deliberate and educated legal strategy. Once you retain Mr. Puri, you can rest assured knowing he will take care of your case like he has taken care of so many others.

Fees range from $5,000 on the low end to $150,000 on the high end. A retainer is proportional one third of the attorney's fee. Generally speaking, fees are charged based on estimates of time based on $350 per hour.

In addition to fees, the client is required cover the costs of their own investigations, forensics analysis and preparation expenses. Deposits for costs range from $2,000 on the low end to $20,000 on the high end. Remember, to beat the government it is mandatory to invest in outside services to insure adequate trial preparation. It is never enough just to pay an attorney a fee.

Mr. Puri gives back to the community by accepting a limited number of low fee and/or pro bono cases where the client can demonstrate low income, and the case is compatible Mr. Puri's practice. Mr. Puri believes that if the client pays something for his or her case, the client will believe in fighting hard to protect his or her own interests.
